Mughal Empire (1500-1763)
An Islamic Turkish empire in India, known for its wealth, power, and influence, achieved through conquest, plunder, tribute, and trade.
Mughal Empire's Wealth Sources
Conquest, plunder, tribute, and trade, especially in luxury goods like textiles, spices (saffron, pure vanilla), precious emeralds, and gold.
Babur (1500-1530)
The first leader and founder of the Mughal Empire, who used gunpowder, cannons, and rifles to establish its initial foundation.
Akbar The Great (1556-1605)
Babur's grandson who transformed the Mughal Empire into a functioning government, known for accommodating and tolerating the Hindu population, expanding their rights, and overseeing the empire's expansion coast-to-coast.
Mughal Empire Decline (after 1650)
Characterized by decreased toleration for Hindus, succession crises, bankruptcy, and growing regional and international competition.
Ottoman Empire (1300-1900)
One of the most impressive and enduring Islamic empires, with a primary mission to expand Islam through any means necessary.
