Electric Charge
A property of a material or particle that can be positive or negative.
Positive Charge
A type of electric charge that can repel other positive charges and attract negative charges.
Negative Charge
A type of electric charge that can repel other negative charges and attract positive charges.
Protons
Subatomic particles with a positive charge found in the nucleus of an atom.
Electrons
Subatomic particles with a negative charge that orbit the nucleus in shells.
Neutrons
Subatomic particles with no charge found in the nucleus of an atom.
Static Electricity
The result of an imbalance between negative and positive charges in an object.
Triboelectric Effect
The process where materials gain or lose electrons when they come into contact with each other.
Electric Field
A special region around every charge where other charges experience a force.
Gravitational Field vs Electric Field
Gravitational fields are produced by masses and only attract, while electric fields are produced by charges and can attract or repel.
