Amendment 1

Guarantees freedoms of religion, speech, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government.

Amendment 2

Protects the right to keep and bear arms.

Amendment 3

Prohibits the quartering of troops in private homes without the owner's consent.

Amendment 4

Protects against unreasonable searches and seizures, requiring a warrant based on probable cause.

Amendment 5

Provides the right to due process, protects against self-incrimination and double jeopardy, and ensures compensation for taken property.

Amendment 6

Guarantees the right to a fair and speedy trial, representation by counsel, and the right to confront witnesses.

Amendment 7

Ensures the right to a jury trial in civil cases, preserving common law traditions.

Amendment 8

Prohibits excessive bail and fines, and protects against cruel and unusual punishment.

Amendment 9

Recognizes that the enumeration of specific rights in the Constitution does not deny or disparage other rights retained by the people.

Amendment 10

Affirms that any powers not specifically given to the federal government are reserved to the states or the people

Amendment 13

Abolishes slavery and involuntary servitude, except as punishment for a crime.

Amendment 14

Defines U.S. citizenship, grants equal protection under the law, and establishes due process.

Prohibits the denial of the right to vote based on race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

Guarantees women the right to vote.

Amendment 24

Eliminates poll taxes in federal elections.

Sets the national voting age at 18
