Describe the Austro.
Turbocharged, I4, 4 stroke, OHV, DOHC, liquid cooled, common rail fuel injected diesel with a reduction gear.
What are the Austro specs?
165 HP @ 2300 RPM. MCP 152 HP / 92% for 5 min.
What controls the Austro?
ECU, two per engine, monitor and control engine parameters.
What does the ECU control?
Manifold pressure, injected fuel quantity, propeller speed.
What ignition system does the Austro have?
Glow plugs for cold starts, compression once running.
What must you do before shutting down?
Power below 10% for one minute.
Describe the oil system for the Austro.
Two oil systems. Engine and turbocharger, gearbox and governor. Wet sump. 5-7 liters of oil in main. Sight glass for secondary.
What are the temp limits on the Austro?
-30C for start, 60C at full load, max 150C. Bypass 80C - 95C
What does the engine master do?
Preheat system, unfeathering accumulator valve, engine itself.
Describe the Diamond prop.
Wooden, 3 blade, MT constant speed feathering prop covered with fiber reinforced plastic coating.
What helps prevent erosion of the props?
Stainless-steel edge cladding on the outboard leading edges. Self-adhesive rubber strip (PU tape) on the inboard leading edge.
