Vocabulary for Unit 3 Test

Population

An entire group of individuals that we want information about (we do not collect data from every member)

Sample

A subset of individuals in a population we want data from (individuals that give us data)

If a sample size is chosen, if only a portion responded and gave data, the portion that responded is the sample

Census

Collects data from every individuals in a population

Sample Survey

Is a study that collects data from a sample to learn about the population that the sample was selected

(process of collecting data from a sample. The data collected represents the population)
