Object caught between the teeth: what to look for

• Person reports something is caught between his or her teeth

• Object may or may not be seen

Object caught between the teeth: what to do

• Try to remove object with dental floss

• If unsuccessful, seek dental care

Bitten Lip of Tongue: What to look for

• Immediate pain, bleeding, or swelling

• Apply direct presure

• Clean area

• If bleeding does not stop, seek medical care

Loosened Tooth: what to look for

• Apply pressure on either side of each tooth

• Tooth movement indicates a possibly loose tooth

• Have the person bite down on gauze

• Consult a dentits or oral surgeon

Toothache: What to look for

• Pain, tooth sensitivity

• Dental decay

• Rinse mouth with warm water

• Use dental floss to remove any food

• Place an ice pack on outside of cheek

• Give acetaminophen or ibuprofen

• Seek a dentist

Broken Tooth: what to do

• Collect tooth or teeth fragments

• Rinse mouth with warm water

• For swelling, place an ice pack on outside of cheek

• For pain, keep air to minimum

• If jaw fracture is suspected, stabilize jaw

• Seek dentist as soon as possibe

• Transport fragments as you would a knocked-out tooth

Knocked Out Tooth: What to do

• Attempt to reimplant tooth

• If nable to reimplant, store tooth in: salt solution, egg white, coconut water, whole milk

• Seek dentist

Infected of Abscssed Tooth: what to look for

• swelling of the gums

• Foul breath

• Pain that is increased by tapping the tooth with something metal

• Rinse thee mouth several times a day

• Give OTC pain medication

• Seek a dentist

Cavity: what to look

• rinse mouth

• Apply oil of cloves

• Seek a dentist

Bleeding for moth: what to do

• Allow blood to drain it of mouth

• For bleeding tongue, pt a dressing on wound and apply pressure

• For cut through lip,, place rolled dressng between lip and gum and press another dressing against outer lip

• Seek medical care
