Simple Present Tense
Used for actions that are always true or happen regularly.
Examples of Simple Present
I live in New York. She works in a restaurant.
Adverbs of Frequency
Words that express how often something occurs; e.g., usually, never, every day.
Present Continuous Tense
Formed using 'be' + verb + -ing, used for actions in progress at the time of speaking.
Examples of Present Continuous
The phone's ringing. House prices are going up very fast right now.
Action Verbs
Verbs that describe actions, e.g., cook, make, can be used in simple present or continuous.
Nonaction Verbs
Verbs that describe states or feelings, e.g., be, need, love; not usually used in present continuous.
Examples of Nonaction Verbs
Agree, believe, depend, forget, hate, know, love, recognize.
Verbs that can be both Action and Nonaction
Some verbs have both meanings, e.g., have (to possess) and think (opinion vs. thinking about something).
