An artboard canvas with a pure black background color.

A view that allows one to put multiple colors on top of each other to blend those colors and create a third color.

A window containing like options that affect objects when an option is selected.
Panning
The act of navigating around a document that is too large to fit on the screen.

A view that allows one to see how a vector drawing will look if it is rasterized.
Place
In the context of Illustrator, the act of adding external content to a file.

Presentation Mode
A mode in which documents display as if they are being projected to an audience.
Preview Mode
A view mode that displays what the actual document will look like in finished form.

A group of swatches, usually related to each other.
Symbol
A pre-built graphic that can be added to illustrations.
Trim View
A view that hides the content off the edges of artboards.
Workspace
The configuration of toolbars and panels on the Illustrator screen.. A custom configuration can be saved as a custom workspace.
