Convection causes less dense material to rise, then it reaches the surface and cools. Energy is transferred through conduction. Heat always moves from heat source to heat sink. Heat travels better through metal (conductor). Styrofoam is an insulater.

Conduction
Heat transfer from atom to atom- surfaces must be touching
Convection
(currents) Heat Transfer through circulation
Equilibrium
Balance
Heat sink
Cooler temp-drain heat from somewhere
Heat Source
warmer temp- what provides the heat
Specific heat
How much energy it takes to change a materials temperature
Sand
lower specific heat, heat fast+cool fast
Water
higher specific heat, heat slow, cool slow
Radiation
Heat transfer through waves- Earth gets from the sun
wind comes from the sea
Sea Breeze
