Measurand
The physical quantity being measured by a sensor, such as force, temperature, or pressure.
Transducer
A device that converts a measurand into an electrical signal.
Signal Conditioning
The process of modifying a signal to make it suitable for further processing or analysis.
Industry 4.0
The fourth industrial revolution characterized by increasing automation and smart technologies in manufacturing.
Primary Standards
The most accurate standards used to define fundamental units of measurement, like kilogram and meter.
Calibration
The process of comparing a sensor measurement to an accepted standard to ensure accuracy.
Strain Gauge
A device whose resistance changes with stress to measure strain.
PT100
A type of Resistive Temperature Device (RTD) that uses a platinum resistor with a known temperature coefficient.
Non-linear Sensor
A sensor that does not have a linear relationship between input and output, such as a thermistor.
Dynamic Characteristics
The behavior of a sensor in response to time-varying measurands.
