Introduction
Hello my name is Kylea and my argumentative topic today is that the Universial healthcare should be in the United States
Death from a Tooth ( Deamonte Driver )
Imagine if you had a sibling or child dying from a preventable tooth infection simply because you can’t afford dental care and this coudve been prevented if healthcare was a right not a privilege that how a 12 year old kid remonte driver died from a tooth infection
Third slide ( Did you know fact ) 17,000
Did you know over 17,000 children in the U.S die simply because they don’t have health insurance. Why are we one of the wealthiest nations in the world, still allowing preventable deaths due to the lack of health care
Breath
Fourth slide ( Argue for healthcare
So that is why I’m here today to argue that the U.S must adopt universal healthcare to ensure equal access to care, reduce preventable deaths, and improve the overall well being of Americans
Fifth slide ( Exonomic reasoning )
Now I will be discussing the ethical and economic arguments for universal healthcare, the impact on vulnerable communities and how such a system could be improved for better health outcomes for everyone
Sixth slide ( John Hopkins research)
According to the John Hopkins child’s center over 17,000 children in the U.S die each year because they lack health insurance. This isn’t just statics this is a real tragedy. Children should be able to receive care and treatment instead of dying from conditions that could have been easily addressed with proper medical attention
Slide 7 ( lancet shows )
A study in the Lancet shows that universal healthcare could save the U.S over $450 billion dollars annually. Some other people that are against universal healthcare for the U.S argue it’s to costly but studies have shown that it would reduce national health expenses and save lives by focusing on preventative care which ultimately lowers emergency healthcare costs
Slide 8 ( Suffer and die from no insurance )
The store Deamonte Driver is just one example of the recasting impact of communities face similar barriers to healthcare everyday. These aren’t just numbers they are real people who suffer and die because they don’t have the insurance of financial means to access healthcare
Slide 9 ( countries who have healthcare)
Countries that have universal healthcare such as Canada and the United kingdom have better healthcare outcomes at a lower cost than the U.S for instance, Canada spends 50% less per capital on healthcare than the U.S yet their population enjoys better health outcomes. These countries prioritize prevention and early treatment, which not only saves lives but also reduces the need for expensive emergency care. Universal healthcare would allow the U.Sto focus on prevention and reduce long term cost
Slide 10 ( Black and Hispanic)
Black and Hispanic Americans are more likely to be uninsured than white American leading to higher rates of chronic disease and mortality. Universal healthcare would level the playing field by ensuring that healthcare is available to everyone regardless of there race or income level it’s a step toward addressing systemic inequality
Slide 11 ( conclusions )
In conclusion universal healthcare is not just an ethical obligation it’s an economic necessity it’s the key to preventing unnecessary deaths reducing healthcare cost and addressing racial and ethnic disparities. It’s time for the United States to take action. Every person deserves access to affordable, quality healthcare. Universal healthcare is the solution that ensures no one is left behind. The question is no longer whether we can afford universal healthcare but wheat when we can afford to continue a system that leaves millions without care. Let’s ensure that no more children like Deamomte Driver have to die needlessly due to lack of healthcare access
