• For any act of violence (threat to shoot up school) do everything possible to locate child, notify parents, 26 to CPEP, prepare ERPO, and ascertain if any access to weapons (prepare a permission to search)

When to do an ERPO and process?

• Prepare an ERPO for ALL suicidal/homicidal statements

• If the information comes from a third party, take a statement.

• Conduct a Pistol License check.

• If access to firearms, get a permission to search.

• Prepare a Field Report, Supplementary Report, Cover Sheet and fill out ERPO log.

Levels of Suspicion (Debour)

Level 3- forcible stop (terry stop), reasonable suspicion, detain (Terry v. Ohio). Frisk for weapons. Unable to leave.

Level 4- Probable cause. Arrest.
