What is a triad?
A three-note chord made up of two intervals stacked in thirds.
Define 'Root' in a chord.
The lower note of the chord.
What is a major triad indicated with?
Uppercase Roman numbers.
What quality of triad is indicated by lowercase Roman numbers?
Minor triads.
What is a subtonic triad?
The chord built on the seventh scale degree in natural minor; it’s a major chord a whole step below the tonic.
What are the five basic types of seventh chords?
Major seventh, Dominant seventh, Minor seventh, Half-diminished seventh, Fully-diminished seventh.
What note is in the bass of a first inversion seventh chord?
The third of the chord.

What are diatonic chords?
A set of chords derived from the notes of a particular key, built using only the notes of the major or minor scale.
List the major diatonic chords in a key.
I (major), ii (minor), iii (minor), IV (major), V (major), vi (minor), vii° (diminished).
What is figured bass?
Consists of the bass line and the Arabic numbers under the bass line that represent the intervals above the bass to be played.
What does the inversion symbol '4/3' indicate?
The fourth of the chord is in the bass.
What intervals are represented in figured bass?
The intervals above the bass note.
