Bacteria
Unicellular organism
Multicellular
Organisms having more than 1 cell. (human)
Cytoplasm
Thick fluid inside both cells.
Organelle
Structure inside a cell that is enclosed by its own membrane.
Chloroplast
Captures energy from the sun and uses it to produce food in plant cells.
Cell
Smallest unit of life that can perform the 4 characteristics.
Cell Membrane
Controls what goes in and out of a cell.
Nucleus
Control center of the cell (brain).
Eukaryotic Cell
DNA material is located in a nucleus, found in multicellular organisms.
Prokaryotic Cell
DNA material is located in the cytoplasm, found in unicellular organisms.
Central Vacuole
Made of membrane and hold water. Only found in plant cells.
Cell Wall
A protective outer covering that lies just outside the cell membrane of plant cells.
Endoplasmic Reticulum
A network of tubular membranes within the cytoplasm of the cell.
Ribosomes
Use the information to gather the materials a cell needs to build proteins.
Gogli Apparatus
Takes materials made by the endoplasmic reticulum and finishes processing them.
Vesicles
Transport processed materials to an organelle called the gogli apparatus
Lysosomes
Vacuoles that contain chemicals that break down materials taken into the cell and old cell parts.
Mitochondrion
The organelles that use oxygen to process food in order to manufacture energy in both plant and animal cells.
Unicellular
A term used to describe an organism that is made up of a single cell.
Microscope
An instrument that uses glass lens to magnify an object.
Organism
An individual living thing, made up of one or many cells that is capable of growing and reproducing.
