Because of overproduction led to an oversupply of items that customers could not afford.

He believed that the government should not take control or responsibility for those in need and that citizens and local organizations would help those in need.

He thought the government should play a big role in what citizens need, and he promised them a new deal to restore faith in the economy and not let the great depression happen again.

What was FDR’s New Deal

His new deal was to improve the lives of people suffering from the Great Depression, and fix problems, allowing the great depression to never happen again.

What are the three R’s of Roosevelt’s New Deal? 

Reform- Fix the issues that caused the Great Depression so that something like that does not happen again.

 Relief- For the people, give people the things that they need (food, shelter, etc.) through job opportunities and government programs.

 

Recovery- For the economy, create jobs through government spending so that money starts to cycle through the economy again.
