Value of tropical rainforest
Tropical rainforests are vital to people, animals, plants and the environment.
Why are they good for animals?
They are the worlds oldest biome with the greatest biodiversity of plant and animal life.
Why are they good for humans?
Goods such as timber, rubber, cocoa, coffee and medicines are all sourced from tropical rainforests.
Why are they good for tribes?
They are home to tribes who rely on the environment for shelter, food and medicines.
Why are they good for plants/trees?
Trees absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, limiting the greenhouse effect. They also regulate the water cycle, reducing flooding.
