Mediastinum
The mediastinum is the central compartment of the thoracic cavity, located between the lungs. It contains important structures such as the heart, trachea, esophagus, and major blood vessels.
Parietal
Wall of cavity.
Visceral
– Relating to the internal organs, especially in the context of membranes that cover them.
Auscultation
The process of listening to the internal sounds of the body, typically using a stethoscope, to assess heart and lung function.
Vasoconstriction
The process by which blood vessels constrict, reducing blood flow and increasing blood pressure.
Vasodilation
The process by which blood vessels expand, increasing blood flow and decreasing blood pressure.
