Why are safety symbols used?
to show that the product meets specific safety standards .
Kite mark
The British Standards Institution ,BSI, is responsible for awarding the kitemark symbol to all kinds of products , services and processes. It’s considered a sign of reliability and safety. The symbol also tests on flammability.
CE symbol
A conformity mark that is used by toy manufacturers to show that their products meet all the relevant customer safety, health or environmental requirements of the European directive.
Lion mark
This symbol is only found on British made toys and means that they have met the safety standards required. Created to promote high safety standards throughout the toy industry.
Age advice symbol
means that the toy is unsuitable for children younger than 3yrs old.
Children’s nightwear labelling
This means that garments carrying this label have not passed the test for low flammability. Extra care must be taken when anywhere near a flame or fire.
