McGuire and Nunn Prognosis – Good
Control of etiologic factors with enough clinical and radiographic periodontal support to allow the tooth to be maintained by the patient and clinician with proper maintenance.
McGuire and Nunn Prognosis – Fair
Approximately 25% attachment loss measured clinically and radiographically; Class I furcation involvement; severity of furcation allows adequate maintenance.
McGuire and Nunn Prognosis – Poor
Approximately 50% attachment loss with Class II furcation involvement; location and degree of furcation allow maintenance but with difficulty.
McGuire and Nunn Prognosis – Questionable
More than 50% attachment loss; poor crown-to-root ratio; Class II (not easily accessed) or Class III furcation involvement; Class II mobility or greater; significant root proximity.
McGuire and Nunn Prognosis – Hopeless
Severe attachment loss; extraction performed or suggested.
