The Big Idea: It's All Connected!
The concept that groundwater and surface water are interconnected and that pollution can spread from one to the other.
Negative Impacts on Water
Factors such as farming with pesticides, landfill trash, gasoline or oil leaks, litter, and pet waste that contribute to water pollution.
Organic Farming
A method that avoids chemical pesticides and fertilizers, which can decrease water pollution.
Natural Pest Control
Using natural solutions like ladybugs to manage pests instead of chemical pesticides.
Good Solution for Pesticide Pollution
Using natural pest control methods or planting pest-resistant crops to eliminate chemical inputs.
Good Solution for Landfill Pollution
Adding a special liner at the bottom of landfills to prevent leaks into groundwater.
Good Solution for Everyday Pollution
Picking up pet waste and disposing of trash properly to prevent water pollution.
