Mercator Map Projection
Map that is noticeable by its perpendicular right angles and its focus on longitude and latitude. Good for direction and shape but distorts size and location.
Goode Homologine Projection
Interrupted Map that portrays the Earth, but its location and distance, and the edges of the map are all distorted
Interrupted Map
Displays Earth, but some is cut out to preserve shape and size.
Fuller projection
Interrupted map that keeps landmasses close to the center point, but becomes distorted when moving away. Not Good for direction, but maintains accurate size and shape.
Robinson Projection
Uninterrupted Map with most of its distortion at the poles. Good for size and shape.
Winkel Tripel Projection
Uninterrupted map, which is similar to the Robinson projection, but larger and circular. Both spread distortion throughout.
Gall Peters
Uninterrupted map, Good for true size, but lacks in shape and distance.
Reference Maps
Common Maps that depict boundaries, Place Names, and Geographic features. (Ex: Disney Maps)
Absolute location
A places independent location and its characteristics, coordinates, size, etc.
Absolute distance
The Measurable distance between one place to another (Ex: 5 Miles)
