Drafting
is called a “universal language”
Drafting
It is used to communicate ideas between designer and production team
Lines
are part of a specialized graphic language that is standardized throughout industry.
Construction Lines and Guidelines
Very light, easily erased lines that are used to block the main lay out.
Visible Lines
are the edges or outlines of an object.
Visible Lines
is used to indicate all visible edges of an object.
Visible Lines
They should stand out clearly in contrast to other lines so that the shape of an object is apparent to the eye.
Hidden Line
is used to show surfaces, edges, or corners of an object that are hidden from view.
CENTER LINES
are used to show the center of holes and symmetrical features.
SYMMETRY LINES
are used when partial views of symmetrical parts are drawn.
SYMMETRY LINES
It is a center line with two thick parallel lines drawn at right angles to it at both ends.
EXTENSION and DIMENSION LINES
are used when dimensioning an object.
Extension lines
extends from the object in order to show the dimension limits.
Dimension lines
indicate the measurements of the object
LEADERS
are used to indicate the part of the drawing to which a note refers.
BREAK LINES
are used when it is desirable to shorten the view of a long part
LONG BREAK LINES
eliminate repetitive details w/o changing the size of its view
LONG BREAK LINES
are thin straight zigzags
SHORT BREAK LINES
thick line drawn in freehand to show details that a part has been cut off or broken out
SHORT BREAK LINES
are thick wavy freehand lines
CUTTING-PLANE LINE
is used to designate where an imaginary cutting took place.
VIEWING-PLANE LINE
is used to indicate direction of sight when a partial view is used.
SECTION LINES
is used to indicate the surface in the section view imagined to have been cut along the cutting-plane line
PHANTOM LINES
are used to indicate alternate position of moving parts, adjacent position of moving parts, adjacent position of related parts, and repetitive detail

Pictorial Drawing
shows likeness of an object as viewed by the observer.
Pictorial Drawing
It represents a portion of the object and shows the method of its construction.
Pictorial Drawing
In some presentations, the whole object is shown in one view.
Oblique Drawing

Perspective Drawing
drawing having a vanishing point.
Isometric Drawing
A pictorial drawing showing the three faces of the object Tilted 30Ëš in front of the observer.
Isometric Drawing
All 3 axes are scaled at 120 degrees
Orthographic Projection
It refers to the collection of 2D drawings that work together so that the shape of an object is apparent to the eye.
