Political Party
A group that shares political principles and is organized to win elections and hold office.
Dark Money
Money given to campaigns anonymously, often made possible by loopholes in campaign law.
Gerrymandering
The practice of redrawing district lines to maximize the influence of a certain group or political party.
Filibuster
An attempt to prevent a vote from being brought to the floor of the Senate, often through prolonged speech.
Executive Orders
Written directives issued by the president with the immediate force of law, without the approval of Congress.
The Rule of Four
A requirement that at least four Supreme Court judges must agree to hear a case before it comes before the Court.
Clientelism
A system that favors the interests of certain people/groups who offer political support in return.
Merit-based Public Service
Government employment based on qualifications and performance, as opposed to a spoils system.

A judicial philosophy that advocates for a more progressive approach to current court rulings.
Bicameral
Refers to a system comprising two chambers, specifically the House of Representatives and the Senate.
