Perpendicular Bisector
Any line segment, or ray that passes through the midpoint of a segment and is perpendicular to that segment
Concurrent Lines
Three or more lines that intersect at a common point
Point of Concurrency
The point of intersection of concurrent lines
Circumcenter
The point of concurrency of the perpendicular bisectors of the sides of a triangle
Angle Bisector
A ray or segment that divides an angle into two congruent angles
Incenter
The point of concurrency of the angle bisectors of a triangle
Median
A line segment with endpoints that are a vertex of the triangle and the midpoint of the side opposite the vertex
Centroid
The point of concurrency of the medians
Altitude of a Triangle
A segment from a vertex of the triangle to the line containing the opposite side perpendicular to that side
Orthocenter
The point of concurrency of the altitudes
Indirect Reasoning
Reasoning that eliminates all possible conclusions but one so that the one remaining conclusion must be true
Indirect Proof
One assumes that the statement to be proven is false and then uses logical reasoning to deduce that a statement contradicts a postulate, theorem, or one of the assumptions
Proof by Contradiction
One assumes that the statement to be proven is false and then uses logical reasoning to deduce that a statement contradicts a postulate, theorem, or one of the assumptions
What is the Comparison Property of Inequality
For any two real numbers, if one is greater than the other, then the other cannot be greater than the first, and vice versa
What is the transitive Property of Inequality
if 'a' less than 'b' and 'b' is less than 'c', then 'a' is less than 'c'.
What is the Addition Property of Inequality
If you add the same quantity to both sides of inequality, the inequality remains true
What is the Subtraction Property of Inequality
If you subtract the same number from both sides of an inequality, the inequality remains true
What it the Triangle Inequality Theorem
The sum of the lengths of any two sides of a triangle must be greater than the length of the third side
