Cloud Computing
A model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction.
On-demand self-service
A characteristic of cloud computing where no human intervention is needed to get resources.
Broad network access
A characteristic of cloud computing allowing access from anywhere.
Resource pooling
A characteristic of cloud computing where the provider shares resources to customers.
Rapid elasticity
A characteristic of cloud computing that allows you to get more resources quickly as needed.
Measured service
A characteristic of cloud computing where you only pay for what you consume.
IaaS
Infrastructure as a Service: CPU, memory, storage, and networking is provided as a service; user manages the OS and application.
PaaS
Platform as a Service: The platform is a managed service; user provides the application.
SaaS
Software as a Service: The platform and software are provided as a service; user supplies the data.
Google Cloud Regions
Physical locations around the world where Google deploys resources, consisting of multiple zones.
Cloud Computing
Makes use of the internet to allow a single point of access to services provided by a network of connected servers.
