what is myasthenia gravis

• chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease

• weakness in the skeletall muscle

• weakness develops bc body draws out antibodies against the nicotinic receptor

• binding of acetylcholine is blocked and nicotinic receptors degrade

• less number of receptors and lack of fold in motor end plate

• decreased excitation in muscle cell

• patient feels weaker and muscle unlikely will respond to stimulation

• no cure
