What does positive energy balance typically lead to?
Weight gain because more calories are consumed than spent.
What does negative energy balance typically lead to?
Weight loss because fewer calories are consumed than spent.
What is anthropometrics?
Measurements of the human body, including weight and height.
What two measurements are used to calculate BMI?
Weight and height.
What is hydrodensitometry?
Underwater weighing to measure percent body fat.
In bioelectrical impedance, what body component is a good conductor of electricity?
Water, which is found largely in muscle cells.
What is the set point theory?
The idea that your body likes to be at a particular weight.
What is energy equilibrium?
Consuming as many calories as your body needs to burn
What is thermogenesis?
The process of heat generation in the body.

Muscle mass, body surface area, growth stages, caffine and thyroid hormone
What is a fad diet?
Something that rapidly comes in and out of favor.
What is the definition of disordered eating?
When you are not following normal patterns of food consumption that we have deemed to be quote unquote normal meaning three meals a day, usually a couple of snacks in between
What are the three major eating disorders?
Anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating.
What is the difference between hunger and appetite?
Hunger is the physiological need to eat, while appetite is the psychological desire to consume.
What does HAES stand for?
