- sublingual: under the tongue
- buccal: between gum and cheek

adequate studies have not shown an increased risk to fetus
Pregnancy Schedule Category B
Animal studies reveal no evidence of harm to the fetus. No studies for humans.
OR
Animal studies show adverse effects. Adequate studies fail to demonstrate risk for humans.
Pregnancy Schedule Category C
Animal studies show adverse effects and no studies for women.
OR
No animal studies and no human studies

Human studies show fetus risk. Therapy may outweigh risks.
