Displacement-time graph
A graph that shows an object’s displacement from its original position as time passes.
Gradient of a displacement-time graph
Represents the velocity of the object (m/s).
Velocity
The rate and direction of an object moving over time.
Steep line on a displacement-time graph
Indicates fast movement.
Stationary on a displacement-time graph
A horizontal line indicates the object is not moving.
Positive slope on a displacement-time graph
Indicates movement away from the starting point.
Negative slope on a displacement-time graph
Indicates movement back towards the starting point.
Velocity-time graph
A graph that shows the velocity of an object as time passes.
Constant speed on a velocity-time graph
A horizontal line indicates constant speed.
Positive velocity on a velocity-time graph
Indicates movement in the positive direction.
Negative velocity on a velocity-time graph
Indicates movement in the negative direction.
Gradient of a velocity-time graph
Represents the acceleration of the object.
