Enzyme Reaction Rate
The amount of reaction per unit time, often expressed in terms of time-1.
Catalase
An enzyme that catalyzes the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) into water (H₂O) and oxygen (O₂).
Enzyme-Substrate Complex
The transient complex formed when an enzyme binds to its substrate.
Rate of Disappearance
Measuring the time it takes for a substrate, such as H₂O₂, to be consumed in an enzymatic reaction.
Rate of Appearance
Measuring the time it takes for a product, such as O₂, to be produced in an enzymatic reaction.
Reaction Rate Calculation
The reaction rate can be calculated by measuring the volume of gas produced over a specific time period.
Scatterplot with Trendline
A graphical representation showing the relationship between two variables, with a trendline indicating the overall direction of data.
Manipulated Variable
The variable that is changed or controlled in a scientific experiment to test its effects on the dependent variable.
Independent Variable
The variable that is manipulated to determine its effects on the dependent variable.
Dependent Variable
The variable that is measured or tested in an experiment.
