Atorvastatin/Lipitor

HMGCoA Red Inhibitor

  • stabilizes plaque to stay on the wall and smooth to the wall- reduce MI

  • Causes aches & pains in biggest muscles b/c thats where biggest fat deposits- give CoEnzymeQ10 for a day before going back on statin

  • Crestor can cause urinating problems, more associated with cramps, and dimentia/memory problems b/c crosses brain barrier

  • kinda overprescribed

  • If you’ve had a MI you’re on a statin

Macrolide

  • One of the easiest macrolide to dispense

  • Very safe - not associated w/ probs of other macrolides

  • HAve to eat or causes BAD cramps

  • stays in your system over a week after

  • will treat STDs

  • Effective
