How do we use Long Connectors?

When using a long connector in the middle of the sentence, or breaking up two ICs, use a semi colon before inserting and a comma after.

Ex) John will go to the mall; however, Mary does not want to go. 

When using a long connector in the beginning or end of a sentence, use only a comma before and after. 

Ex) Henry, however, never was able to reconcile with his stubborn father. 

Henry was never able to reconcile with his father, however.

How do we use Semi Colons in a sentence?

IC;IC

Use a semi colon to combine two ICs without a conjunction. 

Ex) John will go to the mall; Sue will stay home.

Use a colon after an independent clause to introduce another independent clause. 

Ex) Here is the truth: Mary is the best player on our team.
