Carbohydrates
The most common type of organic compound used to store energy.
Monosaccharide
A simple sugar and the monomer of carbohydrates, such as fructose or glucose.
Disaccharide
A carbohydrate formed from two monosaccharides, such as sucrose.
Isomers
Molecules that have the same chemical formula but different arrangements of atoms.
Polysaccharide
A complex carbohydrate formed when multiple monosaccharides bind together in a chain.
Glucose
A monosaccharide that serves as a primary energy source for cells.
Fructose
A monosaccharide found in fruits, sharing the same chemical formula as glucose but differing in arrangement.
Sucrose
A disaccharide composed of glucose and fructose, commonly known as table sugar.
Biofuels
Alternative fuels derived from biological materials, including those made from sugars.
Ethanol
A type of biofuel produced from fermenting sugars, notably derived from corn.
