The head restraint should be adjusted so that the rigid part is at least as high as the eye and as close to the back of the head as comfortable.
some head restraints may not be adjustable

gentle pressure on the steering wheel while the engine is started should result in slight noticeable movements as the system begins to operate
turning the wheel just after moving off will give an immediate indication that the power assistance is functioning

operate switch (turn on dipped headlights and ignition if neccessary). check the warning lights are on. explain that you’ll use them as in fog their is low visibility and having them on makes it easier for others to see you
