Where does the term Anglo-Saxon come from?
It comes from two Germanic tribes: Angles and the Saxons.

It starts with the invasion of Celtic England around the 450s. The era ends in 1066 when Norman France conquered England.
What did this period consist of?
Oral Literature. A scop used to recite the most important historical events of this time. A lot of the prose of this period was a translation of something else or religious nature.
