Aim
To investigate if leading questions would influence the reconstructive memory of eyewitnesses of a real crime scene
Sample
13 eyewitnesses of a real crime scene
Procedure
had to give an account of the event
asked leading questions
had to rate their level of stress
Findings
10/13 did not ‘buy into’ the leading question → high accuracy in reconstructive memory
Conclusion (link according to question)
Emotion → vivid memories resistant to being forgotten → reconstruction effective
supports FBM → accuracy
strengths
+ high EV
+ challenged laboratory findings
weaknesses
- replicability
- unique circumstances - generalizability
- no verification - self-report/ comparison to ordinary memories
