What is binary fission?
Division in bacteria that produces two identical bacterial cells
What are the stages of binary fission?
1) The circular chromosome and plasmids replicate
2) The cell gets larger and the DNA moves to opposite ends of the cell
3) Two daughter cells form, each has one copy of the circular chromosomes but the number of plasmids varies
What conditions are favourable for binary fission?
High temperatures
Moist conditions
Ample nutrients
