Explorer
Someone who travels to places about which very little is known, in order to discover what is there.
News Report
A written account that informs readers of what is happening in the world, detailing what happened, where, when, who was involved, and possibly why and how it happened.
Five Ws
The essential questions in report writing: Who, What, Where, When, and Why.
Headline
A title that tells what the story is about.
Byline
A line that shows who wrote the story.
Lead
The introduction that presents the most important facts of the news report.
Body
The section of the news report that contains more information and details about the story.
Ending
The conclusion that gives something to think about for the reader.

An explorer who traveled to Sierra Leone and the Gabon, documenting encounters with hippos, crocodiles, and gorillas.
Amelia Earhart
An aviator known for her solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean from Canada to Ireland in 1932.
