Equality Act 2010
A key piece of legislation that reforms and harmonizes equality law and addresses discrimination and harassment related to personal characteristics.
Direct Discrimination
Occurs when a person treats another less favorably due to a protected characteristic.
Indirect Discrimination
This happens when a policy or practice disproportionately disadvantages a group with a protected characteristic.
Protected Characteristics
Categories under which individuals are legally protected from discrimination, including age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage, pregnancy, race, religion, sex, and sexual orientation.
Harassment
Unwanted conduct related to a protected characteristic that violates a worker's dignity or creates an intimidating environment.
Victimisation

Positive Action
