Extenuating circumstance
A serious, unforeseen event (e.g., hospitalization) that qualifies for special consideration.
Syllabus
The course outline that lists policies, objectives, and the calendar of assignments.
Sports calendar
The calendar in the syllabus used to track deadlines, schedules, and due dates.
Procrastinator
Someone who delays tasks until the last minute.
Emergency
A serious, urgent situation; not a routine inconvenience and may be an extenuating circumstance when applicable.
Blackboard
The learning management system used to access course content, syllabus, ebook, Achieve, and slides.
Achieve
The online homework platform integrated with the course.
Ebook
The electronic textbook accessed through the LMS.
Unit One
The first module or unit of course content available to students.
Google Docs
A cloud-based document tool not used for submissions in this course.
WorkDocs
The required document submission platform, used instead of Google Docs.
Password protected
A file that requires a password to open; submissions should not be password protected.
Access permissions
Permissions requests that can delay access to submitted work if not granted.
Word document
The preferred file format for submissions; not a Google Doc.

The course code for the psychology class.
Flashcards
Study cards with a term on one side and its definition on the other.
Concept practice
Targeted exercises that help explain and reinforce difficult concepts.
Nervous system
The network of nerves and cells that control thought, sensation, and movement.
Classical conditioning
A learning process where a neutral stimulus becomes associated with a meaningful stimulus.
Learning curves
The rate at which learners improve with practice across topics.
Practice quizzes
Quizzes for each chapter designed to review material and prepare for exams.
Hint
A clue in a quiz; using it can lower the points earned for the question.

Option to reveal the correct answer without earning points.
