States don't want to rely on each other -> in world of anarchy you want to rely on self-help and reject mutual alliance

What is pooled sovereignty?
Liberal concept where a group of states combine sovereignty in order to gain greater control of issues that affect them: power with....( individual states might not be able to have control over that matter e.g. climate change)
What are some examples of pooled sovereignty?
NATO or UN
What is indigenous sovereignty?
The right of indigenous peoples to govern themselves and make decisions about their own land and resources
-> based on historical identity
-> reject state's claims on absolute sovereignty
