Person-centered communication
An approach in communication that focuses on the individual's needs and preferences.
Nonverbal Interaction (NVI)
Communication without words, involving body language, facial expressions, and other nonverbal cues.
Verbal Person-Centered (VPC)
Communication that involves actively listening and verbal responses tailored to the person’s specific situation.
Open-ended questions
Questions that require more than a yes or no answer, encouraging elaboration.
Closed-ended questions
Questions that can be answered with a simple 'yes' or 'no' or other brief response.
Therapeutic use of questions
Questions designed to gather information in a way that benefits patient communication and understanding.
Nontherapeutic purposes for questions
Using questions for interpretative, advising, or self-disclosing purposes that may disrupt effective communication.
Types of question forms
