Name the 4 Eukaryotic cells.
Animal, Plant, Fungi, Protoctists
Name a Prokaryotic Cell.
Bacteria
What makes a cell Eukaryotic?
DNA is in form on chromosomes, DNA found in the nucleus.
What makes a cell Prokaryotic?
Don’t have a nucleus, DNA loose in cell.
10 - 100 X smaller than eukaryotic
What do animals have in common?
Multicellular (made up of lots of cells rather than 1)
Heterotrophs (get energy from other organisms, food)
Most reproduce sexually
What do plants have in common?
Multicellular
Autotrophs (Get energy from sun using photosynthesis)
How is fungi different to plants?
It can’t photosynthesise.
What nutrition does fungi use?
Saprophytic
What is saprophytic nutrition process?
Secrete digestive enzymes onto food outside their body
Enzymes break down the food
Absorb all the nutrients
What do protoctists have in common?
Unicellular (1 cell)
What do bacteria have in common?
Single-celled organisms
No chloroplasts
Most feed off other organisms
Help to digest food
What creates salmonella
Bacteria
What creates athletes foot?
Fungi
Are viruses living?
No.
Where can viruses reproduce?
Inside living cells
Why are viruses called parasites?
Depend on other organisms to grow and reproduce.
All viruses can be thought of as pathogens. State an example.
Influenza virus, Tobacco mosaic virus, HIV, Covid-19
