How do you add and subtract integers?
Use the number line; move right when adding and move left when subtracting.
What is multiplication?
Repeated addition.
What is the result of a negative number multiplied by a positive number?
A negative number.
What is the order of operations?
PEMDAS: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.
According to PEMDAS, what has more priority: division or addition?
Division.
When an expression has both multiplication and division, which operation should you perform first?
Work from left to right.
How do you evaluate algebraic expressions?
Replace the variables with their given values and perform the operations.
What is the Distributive Property?
Distribute the number outside the parentheses to each term inside the parentheses.
How do you simplify algebraic expressions?
Add similar terms.
How do you solve simple linear equations?
Isolate x by performing the opposite operation on both sides of the equation.
How do you solve an equation with a fraction in front of the variable?
Multiply both sides by the reciprocal of the fraction.
How do you solve an equation when you have two fractions separated by an equal sign?
Cross-multiply.
What does an exponent mean?
Repeated Multiplication.
What does it mean to factor a monomial?
Writing everything in terms of prime numbers.
What is the greatest common factor (GCF) between two numbers?
A number less than the two numbers that can evenly divide into both numbers.
What are some way to find the percentage of a number?
Divide a percentage by 100 or simply move the decimal two units to the left and multiply by that value
How do you solve for a missing side in similar triangles?
Set up a proportion and cross-multiply to solve for the unknown variable.
When multiplying monomials, what do you do to add the exponents?
Add the exponents.
When dividing monomials, what do you do to the exponents?
Subtract the exponents.
What do you do when you have a negative exponent?
Move the variable to the bottom, and the negative exponent will change sign to positive.
