Isolate staphylococcus aureus which feeds on mannitol, regular staphyl species do not

Red = nothing

Yellow = yes

Bile salts + crystal violet (selective) + lactose (differential) + red dye

Macconkey agar does what? How to tell visually?

• Isolates lactose-fermenting bacteria + Finds Enterobacteriaceae + gram negative

• red = no, pink = yes

Blood agar does what? how to tell visually? What kind of experi?

- detect hemolysins

- Differential + enriched

• green = α hemolysis — incomplete lysis

• clear = β hemolysis – complete

• nothing = gamma
