Red Scare

DEF - A term for anticommunist hysteria that swept the US first after WW1, was even worse after WW2

TISB - Led to government crackdowns on suspected radicals and the rise of anti-communist sentiment

Bonus Army

DEF - A group of 15k unemployed WW1 veterans who set up camps near the capitol building in 1932 demanding immediate pension pay

TISB - Highlighted government treatment of veterans during the great depression, Hoover ordered they be evicted, this hurt his image immensely

Hundred Days

DEF - A legendary session during the first few months of FDR’s administration in which Congress enacted 15 major bills

TISB - Led to the implementation of numerous New Deal programs for relief, recovery, and reform

Social Security Act

DEF - 1935 act with old age pensions for workers, unemployment insurance, and disability compensation

TISB - Represented a major shift towards government responsibility for the well-being of its citizens

Munich Conference

DEF - Conference held in Munich, Germany in September 1938 during which Britain and France allowed Germany to annex the Sudetenland in hopes to maintain peace

TISB - Failed to prevent further aggression by Nazi Germany as they would invade Poland soon after
