Messopotamia and Rumsfeld Doctrine

• Insugency was not stoped at the begining of Operation Iraqi freedom and was fuled by de-baathification - If the US would have commiteed more troops the insurgency would not have grown into a bigger problem.

• Lack of security, 20,030 thousand tons of explosives were stollen and used on us -if there were more troops, they would have guarded the arsenals and armories and there would have been less deaths

• Civil war caused 94,000 civilian deaths - If there was more troops there would have been more security and less civilian deaths

• 16% unenployment - economic stability would have brought more jobs if there was more troops

• 16% refugees (4.7 million) - if it was more protected then less people would have left

• ISIS came in during the US withdrawal - if we stayed ISIS would not have been able to get a footing and gain power and influence

• 160/163 - if the US would have committed more troops there would have been a better Gov. which would have been less corruption

Fighting a cleaner war

• JDAMS - allowed military to precisely hit targets without killing nearby innocent civilians or destroying non-targeted buildings

• Bug Splat - can simulate the damage of a bomb to ensure total destruction without too much excess

• Embedded Reporters - If solider know there are reporters, then better solider behavior

• “Clear, Hold, Build” - Clear eemy, hold enemy out, build upon it.

• Distinction - If they are digging in the ground or they shoot at you goal is to only kill enemy not civilians

• Proportionality - only attack in smar ratio we were attacked and only people who attack get retaliation

• Surger/New Way Forward - 21,000 more troops and violence down by 80%

• Sahwa - violence down 80% paid Sunnis and then shias $300/month to not kill each other.

WMD

• Iraq has WMD sites - 237 missions and visited 149 sited and no WMD were found

• Iraq possesed nuclear material - no energy IAEA were found in 97 or 2003

• Iraq has major chemical weapons facility - demolished chemcial weaons in Al Kaham which was largest

• WMD entered Iraq by sea - Naval blockade searched 12,000 ships in 10 years

• Iraq possessed mobile chemcical weapons trucks - Curveball admitted he was lying - Germans said he was not trustworthy

• Niger transported uranium to Iraq - Joseph Wilson checked his sources and he published article saying it was false

• Iraq has hidden WMD program - 30 Iraqi went and found nothing
