Surveillance

Covert observation of places, people, vehicles, etc. to information.

GPS, vehicles, Contact, night vision, binos.

Don’t get made (obvious, out of place, disguises, police vehicles).

Undercover Operations

Law enforcement agents attempt to gain confidence of an individual (or group) to infiltrate the group in order to develop information related to their criminal activity.

Three-Person Surveillance (ABC Method)

A suspect is being observed by three different people who change positions, it becomes more difficult to detect the surveillance.

Contact Surveillance

Certain fluorescent preparations to stain a person’s hands or clothing upon contact to offer observable proof of a connection between the stained person and the object under surveillance.

Audio Surveillance

Wiretapping and electronic eavesdropping.

Surveillant

The person who performs surveillance.

Stakeout

Fixed or stationary surveillance.
