13 Articles of Confederation

Article 1

Gave the name United States of America.

Article 2

Gave all the states sovereignty, freedom, and independence.

Article 3

All states will defend each other against agression.

Article 4

Granted movement between the states.

Article 5

Each state gets one delegate vote.

Article 6

Each state cannot have its own Army or declare war or sign peace treaties.

Article 7

Gave the states power to appoint or elect military officers.

Article 8

Each state must donate money for the federal government.

Article 9

Gives the congress the only right to declare war on another country.

Article 10

Set guidelines for the executive committee.

Article 11

Nine states had to approve a new state joining, offered statehood to Canada.

Article 12

All states are responsible for the national debt before the war.

Article 13

All states must abide by the laws of the confederation.
