Sensory Neurons
Carry impulses from the body to the CNS
Interneurons
Receive input from sensory neurons
Found within brain and spinal cord
Can organize all messages they receive before communicating with motor neurons
Motor Neurons
Carry impulses from the CNS back to specific regions of the body
When someone taps you on the shoulder
Receptor on skin notices change has happened
Sensory neurons take message to CNS
Interneurons in the brain read the message
Motor neurons send messages from your brain to your neck
muscles
Neck muscles activate from the message which cause head to turn
When you are writing and reading information
Action potentials carry information about the words on the page
Neurotransmitters are diffusing across the synaptic cleft
Motor neurons in your brain will send out action potentials to the muscle cells of your eyes
Cranial Nerves
Originate in the brain
Usually end up in structures in your hand and upper body
Spinal Nerves
Originate in the Spinal cord
Extend to parts of the body that are below our head
